Roof Works in SHEFFIELD

Aug 14, 2024

We were contacted by a repeat customer in Sheffield to provide advice after he discovered an issue with water ingress to the top floor.

Water was found to be running down the wall near the chimney breast.

We arranged for a visit with our team of technicians who carried out a survey of the roof to try and ascertain where the source of the ingress was coming from.

The chimney itself was found to be in poor condition with lots of the pointing missing and concrete flaunching as well as deteriorated leadwork.

Much of the concrete verge had also deteriorated/cracked leaving the area open to the elements.

Our client asked us to inspect the ridge tiles whilst we had access to the roof as he had noticed mortar falling from the roof.

Remedial works were discussed and we presented our client with a cost which he agreed upon.

To carry out the work effectively, as well as for safety reasons, properly it was necessary to install scaffolding.

Rather than carrying out remedial works to the chimney, it was far more cost effective in this case to simply remove the chimney to below the roof line.

The ridge tiles were removed and replaced with a maintenance-free dry ridge system.

Dry verges were also installed.
